The Premier Auto Group was proud to once again be the primary sponsor for New Haven's 2nd annual Opera Palooza festival, a showcase of the next generation of opera singers singing some of the world's best known operatic arias. The event was presented by the City of New Haven, along with Salt Marsh Opera, the Connecticut Alliance for Music, and Find Your Voice to showcase the city's commitment to the arts. Premier Auto Group President Robert J. Alvine welcomed everyone to the event, and New Haven Mayor Toni Harp presented the "City Spirit" Award to Thomas Duffy, Yale University professor of music and director of the university's bands, and a Premier Auto Group customer!


 

The event was hosted by world-renowned American bass-baritone David Pittsinger, and featured 10 of opera's rising stars. Performances included Oxford native Charlie Widmer performing "La Donna E Mobile" from Verdi's Rigoletto, Cheshire High School student Alea Vernon performing "Tornami A Vagheggiar" from Handel's Alcina, Soprano Kelly Griffin portraying Lady Macbeth from Verdi's Macbeth, and Baritone Ryan Burns singing "Largo Al Factotum from Rossini's The Barber of Seville. Mr. Pittsinger also sang the finale to close the show.
