2020 Subaru Legacy - Innovative Solutions Combined with Time-Tested Features Bring Superb Results
Subaru's latest sedan line-up, the 2020 Subaru Legacy has arrived with lots of great new features and a construction that uses all the achievements of the previous model-year, the 2019 Subaru Legacy. The line-up is varied, it includes the base trim, the Premium, the Sport, two Legacy Limited trims and the Touring, all of them placed on the same Subaru Global Platform that is so well-known from previous model years as well as from other Subaru models.
New technology, a more comprehensive range of safety features and new engine features - these are the qualities that describe the new range of the Legacy Sedan. Here are some of the highlights out of the incredibly ample set of features offered.

2020 Legacy Powertrain Options

What’s New in the Powertrain of the 2020 Subaru Legacy

Reliable power is a feature that makes the entire new Legacy family stand out. The line-up includes two new XT designations, the Limited XT and the Touring XT. Both XT sedan variants are fitted with a beautifully purring, 2.4-liter, direct-injection, turbocharged engine that puts out a staggering 260 HP, while the other models use Subaru’s great, 2.5-liter, direct-injection boxer engine, capable of 182 HP. All new Legacy models pair the powerful engine to a high-torque Lineatronic CVT with manual mode. The Sport trim comes with SI-Drive switch for adjusting drive modes quickly and easily. The non-turbo trims jump to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds, the turbo versions being even faster, reaching 60 mph in 6.1 seconds.
Stability and performance come backed up with Subaru’s super-efficient Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system, a type of AWD that distributes power continuously to all the four wheels, thus ensuring an extremely strong grip on the road and exceptional maneuverability.
The new Legacy line-up offers impressive fuel economy as well: the turbo engine comes with an estimated 24/32 mpg city/highway, while the non-turbocharged version 27/35 mpg.

Chicago Auto Show Video

The 2020 Subaru Legacy debuted at the Chicago Auto show earlier in the year.  This footage was taken at the show. Although the changes in body style are not as prominent as the other changes in the new Legacy it does boast a new grill fenders style and even increase trunk capacity.  The biggest change is that it's now on the Subaru Global Platform that increase the use oif high tensil steel structural components.  That improvement alone will make for a safer, quieter, more maneuverable vehicle in 2020.  You can expect to see the 2020 Legacy hitting dealer lots in the Fall of 2019.

Safety & Entertainment Features

What’s New in the 2020 Subaru Legacy in Terms of Safety and Infotainment?

The stiff platform shared across the line-up offers the passive safety that makes driving any member of the 2020 Subaru Legacy family safe and enjoyable to drive and to travel in. The base has been further optimized with the new floor crossmember filled with lightweight, but very rigid foam, and Subaru has added one more solution that increases safety: the inner frame no longer consist of two parts joined by welding, it is now one solid structure, with only the outer panels welded on.
Subaru has extended its range of active safety solutions as well, offering its EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as standard across the line-up. The system includes several unique features, such as the Lane Centering Function and the Front View Monitor that captures images of the bling-spot area in front of the driver and puts them on the central display. Other components of the Driver Assist System include adaptive cruise control, driver focus distraction mitigation (standard on the XT trims and optional on the Limited).
The new Legacy line-up now features a much larger, 11.6-inch, portrait-oriented display (replacing the previous, 8-inch screen on previous model-year variants), offered as standard on Premium, Sport and Limited models.
As a great digital innovation, the Starlink Multimedia system linked to the large display offers lots of great functionalities. The display can now be split to show two types of information without requiring the driver to switch screens and it also has touch controls for entering or for modifying air conditioning or vehicle settings. Cross-platform smartphone integration is also there, with hands-free phone and audio streaming connectivity, stereo radio, SiriusXM subscriptions of varying durations and HD Radio.
All 2020 Subaru Legacy models offer plenty of entertainment options for the occupants of the front seats as well as in the rear. The system makes in-car Wi-Fi connectivity smooth and reliable through the on-board LTE modem equipped with a built-in hotspot. The cabin is made outstandingly quiet with sound-insulated glass, combined with the superb audio makes any music sound as crisp as in a concert hall.

New 2020 Subaru Legacy Body

The New 2020 Subaru Legacy Body

The exterior of the new Legacy is beautiful in a bold and rugged way that inspires reliability and dynamism. The fenders are wider, incorporating the tires not only as functional components, but as elements of the design as well, the hexagonal grille has no frame for a more space-age appearance and the side mirrors feature an aerodynamic appearance.
