Description of the WUE-90 Brake Lamp Switch Safety Recall:

Due to exposure to contaminants a brake light switch may malfunction.  Contaminants can seep through the switch housing causing residue to build up on the switch contact terminal.  This can result in loss of conductivity and prevent the brake light from illuminating when desired.  Malfunctions can occur in these models while parking, starting, or even driving the vehicle.  Owners are at an increased risk of rear collisions because brake lights may not illuminate when the driver applies pressure to the brake pedal.

How is the Brake Lamp Switch repaired and how long will it take?

Subaru Certified Technician can replace the potentially faulty brake light switch with a new one using a silicone free grease.  The grease will help seal the switch off from potential contaminants.  This repair should only take an hour and we stock plenty of these brake light switches.
